About the Role

We’re looking for an early-career finance professional with strong foundations in Kenyan financial practices and a hunger to learn and grow. As a Finance Officer, you will support financial operations across our Kenyan, Ugandan, and Tanzanian entities — with primary focus on Kenya. This role blends hands-on financial operations, compliance, reporting, and learning opportunities in a high-growth, cross-border environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Operations & Bookkeeping

● Record day-to-day financial transactions and maintain accurate ledgers.

● Process payments and collections, ensuring timely disbursement and follow-ups.

● Support bank reconciliations and flag inconsistencies for resolution.

2. Tax & Regulatory Compliance (Kenya)

● Prepare and file VAT, PAYE, corporate tax, and other statutory obligations in Kenya.

● Stay updated on Kenyan tax regulations and support internal compliance processes.

● Provide support for tax filings in Uganda and Tanzania under guidance — no prior expertise required.

3. Payroll & Disbursements

● Assist in payroll preparation and statutory deductions for Zeraki Kenya and provide inputs for Uganda and Tanzania.

● Ensure accuracy and completeness of payroll support documentation.

4. Reporting & Support

● Prepare monthly financial reports for Kenya and assist in reporting for Uganda and Tanzania.

● Support cash flow tracking and receivables monitoring.

● Assist in preparing documentation for audits and investor reports.

5. Learning & Collaboration

● Work closely with the Finance Manager and other departments to align financial practices with operational needs.

● Participate in structured learning sessions to build proficiency in international finance and SaaS financial operations.

Key Performance Indicators

● Compliance: 100% of Kenyan tax and regulatory filings submitted 3+ days before deadlines; zero penalties.

● Timely Reporting: Kenya financial reports submitted by the 5th of each month.

● Payment Efficiency: 95% of disbursements and collections processed within agreed terms.

● Receivables Management: Maintain an average collection period below 30 days.

● Proactive Risk Support: Identify and report at least 3 emerging financial risks per quarter.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

  • 1–2 years of professional experience in finance or accounting roles (internship or entry-level).

  • Proficient in QuickBooks or similar accounting software.

  • Strong understanding of Kenyan tax laws and statutory compliance requirements.

  • Solid Excel and data handling skills.

  • CPA (K), ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification is preferred but not required.
